The Vermont Youth Climate Summit is a transformative opportunity for students to understand the effect that their actions have on the world around them. Students will make essential connections between their lives and the natural world, and they will acquire critical thinking skills, leadership experience, cooperative abilities, a sense of community, and an enduring passion for the environment and a sustainable global future. The Vermont Youth Climate Summit brings together a diverse set of high school & college students, teachers, and faculty from thirty schools across the state of Vermont. The Summit combines informative plenary sessions and workshops in an engaging atmosphere during this powerful educational experience. It is a catalyst in leading to changes in the lives, schools and communities of young people striving to change the world. The Summit is aligned with Common Core and the Next Generation Science Standards.

Students have the opportunity to learn the ecological and social issues behind climate change from renowned climate scientists and educators.

WorkshopsStudents can choose to attend various workshops hands-on activities and discussions to learn specific climate change mitigation tools that interest them. Workshop topics include energy efficiency, school gardening, leadership, communication & media, climate science, and more.

Climate Action Plans
Each school team of students, educators, administrators, and facilities staff will develop plans to “green” their facilities, reduce their carbon footprints, and increase cost savings.
